Q.1 A 20 cm x 10 cm venturimeter is provided in a vertical pipe carrying water flowing in the upward direction. A differential mercury manometer connected to the inlet and throat gives a reading of 200 mm. Find the rate of flow. Assume C = 0.98 (R.G.P.V., Dec. 2013)

Q.2 A trapezoidal channel 2 m wide at bottom and 1.5 m deep has side slopes 1 : 1. Determine (i) Total pressure (ii) Centre of pressure on vertical gate closing the channel when it is full of water.
